Laptop Hp Pavilion Dv7-4165dx
Why is my RAM utilization less than whats installed?
I recently Bought a new laptop.
HP Pavilion dv7-4165dx w/ AMD Phenom II Triple Core Processor
It is supposedto support up to 8 GB of RAM and came with only 4 GB so I upgraded it by changing the 2 2 GB to 2 4GB sticks made bythe smae manufacturer and everything.
But now that it is installed, it DETECTS the RAM and says there are 8 GB, but it says only 4 GB of it is usable?
Any idea why? And any idea how to fixit?

sounds like one stick isnt making good contact
try pulling the mem then putting it right
back in. if still no love try one stick
at a time if one does nothing then you
have a bad stick. good luck.
