Laptop Computer Deals Under 500

Need to find a laptop for under $600– refurbished is fine- that will ship to Canada or I can buy in store?

My desktop computer is about to die on me, and I only have around $500 MAXIMUM $600 to spend on a laptop (moved into a SMALL house and want something compact).
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for? I am looking at a DELL Inspiron, or an Acer right now….
