Laptop Computer Deals College Students

Does anyone in college use a desktop computer instead of a laptop?

I’m currently a senior in high school and shopping for a computer for college. I really want to build my own desktop computer, instead of buying a laptop like everyone else, but I’ve been told that absolutely NO ONE in college has a desktop. I don’t want to be the odd one out, but I also want to get a good, durable computer that won’t have power problems or get stolen or damaged easily. I’m going to be majoring in Computer Science, so this is a big deal for me. Do college students really only have laptops, and would I stand out with a desktop?

Laptops are wonderful for wasting time thats why everyone buys them, if you have no trouble writting notes by hand I find no real reason to have a laptop over a desktop. The one major advantage of a laptop is it optimizes your spare time working on projects in boring classes and on breaks if you live off campus. If not remote accessing a home computer from a library is always a viable option.
