Help with laptop internal hard transfer?

I have two HP laptops, one laptop does not turn on anymore believe something is wrong with the port contection. But I need to get information off the hard driver. Both hard drives are internal drives. The hard drive is not work in the new laptop, is there anyway to get the information transfer from to the other. Please Help, thank you.

you have only one opportunity to get data from the disk in the defective notebook if you take the disk out and put it in a external USB 2.0 case.
this is a case where a notebook disk fit in (it will then be connected to a USB port. this case not even need a power supply).
