do laptop coolers work?

so i have a hp computer with windows vista.
(be forewarned, if you get a new computer do not get windows vista. its horrible)

its always shutting off, and i have a virus protector. (i know that it doesnt prevent you from everything) but my computer will just randomly shut off.

even when its not that hot.
do you think i should try a laptop cooler before i take it in?
because i dont have that much money, and it’ll cost like 200$ to get it looked at at a store.
so should i try the laptop cooler? see if that works?

Its worth having a cooler if you own a laptop, even if it doesn’t have heat problems, a cooler could help prevent or prolong it from getting heat problems.

I would recommend the “giga ware” dual fan cooler from radio shack, it’s only $20 and mine keeps my laptop between 15 and 20 degrees celcius cooler than when I’m not using it.
