Computer Will Not Boot

My computer will not boot up past the windows xp screen?

When I boot up my computer, it goes through the normal motions and gets as far as the windows Xp screen and sits there with the green light scrolling from side to side. It stays like this for at least 3-4 minutes and then an error message appears,”Isass.exe” “Oxc0000006″ “click ok to terminate the application”. Does anybody have any idea how to solve my dilemma.I have also tried starting in safe mode but the same error appears. I have also tried to boot up with the internet disconnected. Still no go. I assume this is a virus but am un certain as to the correctional procedure.

I have dealt with the same problem. The way I got it to work was by sticking in the WinXP disk and re-installing the OS.
