Im gonna be using some gaming for it not that big like Black Ops or that kind of games not sure of getting WoW for it but anyway Arkham City things not very heavy i think. So yeah i will say i might use it for Gaming but not very often cause im gonna be studying and things like that.

Same CPU (Intel i7-2630QM). Same Video Cards (NVidia 460M). Same monitor resolution (1920×1080). Same monitor size (17.3″).
Asus has 8GB ram vs Alien 4GB ram (but 4GB is enough, so not a big deal).
Alien’s monitor is 3D capable and is 120Hz. This is somewhat of a big deal. You can do 3D gaming (although most people don’t like it. It’s more “cool” factor) However, you can watch 3D blu-ray movies on the alienware which is also a nice bonus.
Hard drive. Asus claims that their hybrid drive is as fast as solid state drives (yea right!) but I’m sure it’s faster than the normal HDD that the Alien comes with. Also, Asus’ drive is bigger.
For $250, basically you get a 3d monitor and glasses.
It’s apparent that Asus made this laptop to target the M17x since they are so similar. I’d get the Asus.
Alienware sucks because Dell is riding on the name that Alienware created. They are just using it for profit and do not try to make it successful as a gaming PC company. They just use the name to sell. That’s why Alienware sucks. Sorry, I know you don’t want to hear it, but it’s just sad and I have to say it.
Just to let you know, you can make a desktop perform twice the performance (including monitor/glasses) for the half the price. The 460M is the 45th best laptop card and it’s comparable to a Radeon 4850 or NVidia GTS 450. Any quad core desktop with a GTX 560 will double in performance. To be honest, get a quad core GTX 460 Desktop for like $500. Get an i3 2nd gen laptop for $600. Get an ipad or Android Tablet for $400ish. More toys, better gaming, more usefulness. Do gaming at home (also, it’s nice to have a desktop since you’re sitting at a desk instead of hunched over or laying down with a laptop), laptop for on the go studying/computing, and tablet for at home (and portable) web browsing/facebook/etc.
Also, gaming laptops kill batteries. You’re going to need to keep your laptop plugged in if you want to game for more than 1-2 hours.
